F0107EHas your love life lost some of the spark it had in the beginning of the relationship? As adults we are faced with many responsibilities we often forget that we need to have play time with our spouse. Instead of having a date night where you will go to a nice dinner and then a movie why not have a game night instead. Play the naughty dice game with your lover and act out the hot instructions each roll suggests. Games are a fun and healthy way to change things up a bit in your sex life. Pulling one out from under the bed every now and again can turn a night of love-making into a special romantic event.  There is an old saying that says couples that play together will stay together.

In fact, due to the down economy, many people are recognizing that it doesn’t cost a fortune to have a romantic night out.  Sure, a weekend romantic getaway or candlelight dinner or breakfast in bed at a bed in breakfast would be nice (and you definitely don’t need to cross them off your list quite yet), but there are plenty of other date ideas that won’t put you over budget.  Below are some romantic date ideas that can fit various budgets and time frames.

  • First of all remember to plan ahead.  If you have a particular bed and breakfast or hotel in mind try calling ahead and asking if they have any specials.  Also be sure to check online specials that they may have posted. Keep in mind many places have been effected by the down economy as well and some maybe willing to be negotiable.  If the place you have in mind is not able or willing to negotiate, try some other places!
  • Try a 2 day get-away somewhere close by.  If your work schedule allows, often places will have discounts for middle of the week stays. Again, remember to plan ahead!
  • Don’t forget about local State Parks or County Parks.  Now that it is getting warmer, pack a picnic lunch and head out to your local Park.  Spend sometime out at the lake or hiking through some nearby nature trails. Go to your state website, most have a list of State Parks or Recreation areas and any fees listed as well as directions.
  • Dine in.  Dim the lights and light the candles in your very own dining room.  Turn on some soft music and get some fresh cut flowers for the table.
  • Spice things up!  After your candlelight dinner at home, rent some movies or watch one you already have, or better yet borrow a new one from a neighbor. To finish the evening up, play some games together.
  • Enjoy the great outdoors.  Camping is a great way to save $$ on a weekend getaway.  You can do most of the research for a good, close by campground online and find information on pricing.  If you’re not keen on sleeping in a tent (or don’t have one) then look for campgrounds with sleeping cabins.  Chances are they’ll still be cheaper than a hotel, and although they don’t have the conveniences of a hotel you and your honey will be able to sneak out at night and look at the stars or roast marshmallows over an open fire.  Often times local parks will have fire pits available, so if you don’t want to spend the night you can just do dinner around the fire and then head back home.
  • Check out a local museum or attraction.  If you live near a college or university they may have museums for the public.  Or if you live near your states’ capital city there will often be museums or attractions there as well. A good place to look for ideas would be your states tourism or state attraction web pages.

We realize that a lot depends on your location, but no matter where you are you don’t have to spend a fortune on a romantic night out.  With some planning, flexibility and creativeness some of the cheapest ideas may turn into some of the most memorable.
